Our Sun Bum Hair Lightener gives us a beautiful sun-streaked look using some of our favorite natural ingredients like Meyer Lemon, Costa Rican Pineapple, Hawaiian Honey and topped off with a lil’ kick of hydrogen peroxide for faster guaranteed results.  We’ve seen the best color results on our friends with lighter brown to blonde hair tones.  For dark brown hair, it will give you warmer hues…think amber, gold, and honey.  If you do decide to try it on dark hair, don’t get greedy, test it out first with 1-2 sprays and comb through before going in the sun.

If a hat isn’t an option, use an oil like our Shine On Oil. Think of making your hair shine, like a mirror that reflects the sun. If your hair is matte it will absorb the sun and fade, if it’s got a shine to it, the sun will bounce off it and not get into your strands.

We always put oil on before we hit the sun, our formula contains Argan Oil, Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Sunflower Seed Oil.

Think about it, Sunflowers are bright yellow and stay in the sun all day, every day and never fade… it’s the oil. You’re welcome.

Our Blonde Formulas are yellow because they have an enzyme that works to brighten blondes naturally versus purple which is a chemical color to tone down brassiness. It’s a natural technology that has everything you need to enhance your golden locks without the mess in the shower.

We want you to be happy. If you ever have a problem with your order email and we’ll help you out.

  • Free Shipping on Orders over $50
 applies to orders shipping within the contiguous USA via UPS Ground.
  • Orders placed online will be uploaded to our warehouse for fulfillment at midnight tonight. Your order (if placed before midnight) will ship from our Orlando warehouse on the next business day and will ship via UPS Ground or USPS service, depending on the size and weight of your order and the shipping address you’ve provided. Due to stringent standards on the expediting of spray sunscreens and the high cost of air shipping methods – we DO NOT offer expedited shipping services. If you need your order to arrive by a certain date that requires expediting, we do apologize, but we cannot accommodate these requests.  

  • Orders are shipped Monday through Friday with the exception of USA federal holidays.
  • Our continuous spray products (SPF and after sun) can only be shipped via UPS Ground throughout contiguous USA but cannot be shipped to PO boxes, or addresses in Hawaii or Alaska due to federal regulations.
  • If you are an international customer, please email to inquire about whether we have hit your shores yet!
  • Please note that our online store can only ship to contiguous USA addresses, and only accepts USA credit cards.

If you are unhappy with a product purchased at one of our awesome retailers, please return the item to their store for exchange or replacement.

Due to hygiene reasons, we cannot process returns or exchanges on sun care products, unless faulty. However, Sun Bum gladly accepts exchanges on unworn, unwashed, undamaged or defective lifestyle and apparel purchased in our online store within 30 days of the date of purchase. Promotional discount offers will be honored when exchanging size. Any free promotional items should be returned along with your order.In order to process an exchange for an online order, please:

  • Complete our Return Form and include with the item being returned, together with a copy of your original order form/receipt
  • Ship the item (in its original packaging) to:

Please note that you are responsible for all return shipping charges, and no C.O.D deliveries will be accepted. We recommend using a traceable shipping method, such as UPS so you can retain the tracking number, for your records.
